AMWAT Leads Fill A Truck Relief Drive for Hurricane Helene Victims in Taylor County

In October 2024, AMWAT Moving Warehousing Storage organized and led a community relief effort to support Taylor County residents devastated by Hurricane Helene. The Fill A Truck event, held October 17, 2024 at 300 E Park Ave in Tallahassee, collected critical supplies for families in one of the hardest hit communities in the region.

What the Community Delivered

Tallahassee residents and businesses responded generously, donating essential supplies including household cleaning products, baby formula, diapers, and feminine hygiene products. All collected items were delivered directly to the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office Division of Emergency Management for distribution to families in greatest need.

Additional donations were accepted at AMWAT’s warehouse at 319 Ross Road, Tallahassee, FL 32305 throughout the collection period.

Why AMWAT Led This Effort

When disaster strikes a neighboring community, AMWAT does not wait to be asked. We have the trucks, the warehouse, the logistics capability, and the community relationships to make a meaningful difference quickly. Leading this initiative was not a marketing decision. It was the right thing to do.

Gloria Pugh, CEO of AMWAT Moving Warehousing Storage, organized the effort in partnership with the Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce and community partners across the region.

“Hurricane Helene left a deep impact on Taylor County and it is more important than ever for us to come together,” said Gloria Pugh. “We are proud to lead this initiative and grateful to everyone in Tallahassee who stepped up to help.”

AMWAT’s Commitment to North Florida

This event reflects what AMWAT has always believed: that a business with trucks, a warehouse, and community relationships has a responsibility to use those assets when neighbors need help most.

Since 2005, AMWAT has supported Tallahassee and North Florida through charitable initiatives, food drives, community partnerships, and disaster relief efforts. The Fill A Truck event for Hurricane Helene relief is one example of that ongoing commitment.
