Our History
AMWAT is the acronym for “A Man With A Truck,” which started in 1997; true to its name, it was a one-man operation out of Dean Pugh’s spare bedroom, executing local moves with a pick-up truck and trailer. Shortly after starting the business, it moved into a small warehouse, acquired three moving trucks, and hired six employees.
Gloria Pugh joined the company in 2005 and the collaboration quickly had a positive impact. The company restructured and obtained authority from the United States Department of Transportation to cross state lines. In June 2008, A Man With A Truck acquired the largest and oldest moving company in the area, moved into its new, two-warehouse facility, and rebranded to AMWAT Moving Warehousing Storage. Shortly thereafter, AMWAT became an agent for Wheaton World Wide Moving and obtained military facility certification.
AMWAT evolved from a small, local moving business to a transportation, logistics, warehousing, and storage company handling a wide range of commodities, from household and commercial goods to art exhibits and scientific equipment. (We do not handle hazardous materials.)
AMWAT is a one-stop-shop for all our clients’ moving, storage and warehousing needs. We can move just about anything anywhere in the world!

Testimonials
If moving could ever be a pleasant experience, my recent move to Westminster Oaks came close! They were professional and pleasant and asked all the right questions. Not one piece was damaged or broken as they took the greatest care with all my belongings. I truly appreciated their thoroughness.
Your crew did a great job of managing our move from our home of 47 years to Canopy Oaks. They performed with courtesy and were efficient and professional in their work. Their contribution to our move made an otherwise emotionally stressing project much easier to bear.
We recently moved part of our business, which included LOTS of heavy machinery, and the crew from AMWAT handled the move seamlessly! There were moments of "how in the world are they going to get that on a truck?" but they handled the move with the utmost professionalism and care. We will always use AMWAT for our business and professional moving needs!
AMWAT was my first professional move, and I hope I never have to move without them again. Also, it was FAR LESS EXPENSIVE than I thought it would be. Prompt, courteous, hardworking, full-time employees who really seem to care about doing a good job. Stop making your friends help you move. Hire AMWAT.
I recently used AMWAT to move from Tallahassee to Franklin, TN. This was the easiest move ever and I have moved frequently. We have had some pretty bad experiences in the past with other moving companies. I would definitely recommend using AMWAT for your next move.
I have never used professional movers before, and now I will never move without AMWAT again! When I arrived to see the other moving company at work, I was shocked to see the new house had mud all over the floors (because they used no floor protection on the gorgeous wood flooring). That is not how AMWAT rolls. Without a doubt, AMWAT’s company, their team, and the way they do business is far superior.
My cousin, from a lifetime's re-assignments with her career-military husband, says "Every third move is the equivalent of a house fire." Obviously, the military isn't using AMWAT. Absolutely nothing was damaged in our recent move from Tallahassee to Boston. And our load even arrived ahead of us in Boston! The two Wheaton movers were accommodating above and beyond the call of duty.
